* During the healthier warmer months, we will often close early on Saturday. Please call early for an appointment. The daily schedule provides times for both check-ups and sick visits. We encourage scheduling check-ups several weeks in advance. If your child is sick and may require an office visit, please try to call between 8:00 and 10:00 A.M. This will help us to schedule an appointment for your child on the same day. Please call for routine matters (i.e. appointments, billing questions, non-emergency medical concerns) during late morning or afternoon weekday sessions. On Saturday, because the office is only open in the morning, we can only accommodate sick visits. During Sunday and major holidays one of the doctors normally comes in late morning to read cultures. If your child requires a sick visit on Sunday or major holidays please call the answering service before 9 A.M.
Lab results (cultures) from our lab are available after 9 AM the following day; however, some cultures require 48-72 hours growth for interpretation.
EMERGENCIES
When the office is closed, you may reach us through the answering service at (301) 294-8228.For a life or death emergency, call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency room. Once your child has arrived, the emergency room doctor will call us. Fortunately, this is rare.
If you have a less threatening emergency that cannot wait until office hours, please call the answering service. Since the service handles hundreds of calls per day for most Montgomery County doctors, they will occasionally miss or incorrectly take a phone number. Please make sure the operator repeats your phone number correctly. If you do not hear from the doctor within one hour, please re-call the answering service. While waiting for the return call, please do the following:
1) Keep your telephone line open, and 2) Be aware of your pharmacy's telephone number and hours.
Please try to avoid after-hours calls about non-emergency matters that have been present for several days or for other non-urgent situations. These problems are best handled during office hours when we can refer to your child's record.
